Our Work at
the Carey School

The Carey School is an independent day school in San Mateo, California, with 249 students enrolled in PreK through 5th grade.

I began working with them in the spring of 2018 as their capital campaign counsel. Together, we are completing the quiet phase of their $7 million capital campaign, with the launch of the community phase this fall.

My work with The Carey School is a great example of engagement - building their capacity by training and supporting their professional and volunteer team and developing cultivation and solicitation strategies to maximize their efforts.

Testimonial

"Barbara is fantastic to work with. She is an expert at guiding your fundraising projects to yield many positive results.

We recently held a capital campaign cultivation dinner for key prospects. Barbara recommended we have our campaign committee members each host a table with families they were assigned to cultivate throughout the evening. She helped us craft specific questions to ask guest and insisted we keep notes on responses received.

It was extremely successful!

Every member of the committee appreciated the clear structure. They were actually competing for who had the most notes by the end of the evening! We shared all the feedback at a follow-up meeting to better communicate the benefits of the campaign and address any concerns. The families who attended appreciated having an opportunity to ask questions and know they were being heard.

Barbara’s direction and support helped this be a far more effective and fun evening."
